Today, we are stoked to bring you a Fabricator/Builder feature on Tommy Henninger of Tommy's Chop Shop.
First, lets take a moment to talk about Tommy's background and drool over a bit of his work. I promise that you won't be let down by the insane quality of his welds and show worthy custom work.
Tommy cut his fab teeth at the NASCAR Technical Institute after leaving community college. In his words, "I knew it wasn't for me and wanted a career working with my hands." After school, he moved back home to Tampa and took a job as a mechanic at a Mustang performance shop. His time in performance work there made it evident that if he grew his skills in welding and fabrication, he could do much more than twist wrenches.
As he grew, he received an opportunity to get into racing as a fabricator/welder with a, at the time, Busch series team and then subsequently with Roush Fenway racing in the chassis shop. Yearning for different challenges, he then moved to Underground Racing to build turbo and exhaust systems. This is when he really discovered a passion for properly building turbo and exhaust systems.
After Underground Racing, Tommy went on to work with Mike Furick at Good Fabrications and further developed his skills. He credits this experience to learning what it really took to build quality stainless and inconel exhaust parts.
An opportunity to give California a shot with Nelson Racing engines arose and after a stint on the West coast, Tommy Decided California wasn't for him and came back to North Carolina. He now focuses on his own shop, "Tommy's Chop Shop", located in Statesville, NC.
Now that we've covered a bit of his back ground, lets shut up and have a look at this man's fantastic work.....
Tommy's work is beyond words. We're absolutely elated to share it with you!
